Happy New Year

As you can see I haven't blogged since way before Christmas - it's been a busy time but we're now back to normal. Here is a pic of my December Bead Journal Project page which I just finished today - it's the mistletoe in the almond tree outside the dining room window.

And here is a close-up. The background fabric is shiny polyester that made me think of the grey days of winter. I did some FME along a horizon line underneath to represent the line of trees in the distance, but they don't show up in the photo. I realised as I worked on this piece that all my BJPs so far this year are to do with nature - the things coming into fruit or flower at the time of year, and I'll try to stay with this theme.

Here is a pic of the additional Take It Further December Challenge I did based on the idea of Mother Nature & generosity.

And here is a pic of a little bag I made for the daughter of some friends who came to celebrate New Years with us.

Now I can start to think of what I want to bead for my January BJP page - probably something to do with freezing cold, snow, ice...

Wow! Your Dec. piece is so pretty. I realize that I don't know a thing about how mistletoe grows... now I'm going to have to look it up... It certainly is beautiful in the otherwise bare branches of your almond tree. I also confess that I don't know what FME is... I'll check back in a couple of days to see if you've left a comment about it. I always like and appreciate work that is nature-based and look forward to seeing all your pieces for the year.

Also grat work on your TFI challenge and the cute bag you made!

Robin and Paula obviously saw something - I only see four empty frames, do what I may. So I will return to your blog later, hoping that the mysterious veil has been lifted. Maybe Blogger has the hiccups.

Regards and happy new year,
Sabine

Now I can see everything, and I like your mistletoe page very much. Very artfully made.

I erased my second comment, because previously I also had trouble commenting, and suddenly found my comment had arrived twice.

This is stunning! I love your pages all having to do with nature... this one is so very simple and stark in its beauty.... I do believe this is one of my favorites for December...

Hi Robin, thanks for your comment - FME is short for Free Machine Embroidery, and mistletoe is a parasitic plant that sends its roots into the living tissue of the tree upon which it grows.

I'M glad you're back to blogging. All your stuff is si beautiful. I always like to look at it. The mistletoe piece is no exeption, and it captures winter so nicely. I like the white background, it's perfect for a winter athmosphere. Happy new year from me too, although I'm a bit late for that.
